I am very proud to be one of 150 artisans that helped save the Battleship Texas.
You ask how did I help?
I received some torpedo blister steel (cir 1925) and some of the pine deck wood (cir 1985) from the ship.
I used the steel in combination with 1084, 15n20, and nickel steels to make Damascus. i stabilized the deck wood and used it to make the handles.
The Damascus was drawn out and then used to make a Damascus wood chisels and a kitchen knife, which I then donated to the foundation to auction off to raise money for the ship.
